Following Hamas’ devastating attack on Israel on October 7, the Israeli military has verified the death of a soldier who was kidnapped by the group and detained in Gaza.
The family of Corporal Noa Marciano, 19, had been notified of her passing, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
Cpl. Marciano had been featured in a video that Hamas had made public on Monday.
Approximately 240 captives were captured by Hamas gunmen during the onslaught that killed 1,200 people last month, including her.
As part of a group of shooters who had broken through the Israel-Gaza border and attacked numerous Israeli towns, military installations, and hundreds of youths enjoying a music festival, Cpl Marciano was on duty as a lookout at the Nahal Oz kibbutz.
Cpl Marciano had not been made aware of his whereabouts in Gaza, like all the other hostages.
The military arm of Hamas stated that Cpl Marciano was killed on November 9th in an Israeli airstrike, although this claim could not be independently confirmed.
Israel began a war against Hamas after the October 7th incident, despite the fact that numerous Western governments, including the UK, had designated the group as a terrorist organisation.
Since then, more than 11,000 people have died in Gaza, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas. According to the IDF, 46 Israeli soldiers had lost their lives in the fighting within Gaza in the same time frame.
Four hostages have been freed by Hamas and one has been rescued by the IDF since October 7.
