Gameday live coverage of the Kings vs. Lakers: LeBron James, Anthony Davis injury, and scouting reports
The Kings will play the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday to start a lengthy six-game road trip. The backup centre Alex Len was diagnosed with a moderate high right ankle sprain on Tuesday, which could sideline him for up to eight weeks.
This was bad news for the Kings (5-4). Len and forward Trey Lyles, who has yet to make his season debut because of a left calf strain sustained during the preseason, are both out of Wednesday’s game against the Lakers.
On the second night of a back-to-back, the Lakers (6-5) will take on the Kings following their 134-107 victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
The Lakers have until Wednesday to file an injury report. Although all three seem to be very close to returning, they will probably be without Jalen Hood-Schifino (patella), Jarred Vanderbilt (heel), and Gabe Vincent (knee). LeBron James (calf) was labelled as doubtful and Anthony Davis (hip) as probable for Tuesday’s game against the Grizzlies, but both players were declared fit to play.
James was chosen at the last minute. Davis ended with five assists, eleven rebounds, and 19 points. James finished with nine rebounds, six assists, and sixteen points.
SCOUTING SACRAMENTO
After defeating the Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Cleveland Cavaliers, the Kings have now won three straight games.
With De’Aaron Fox back, Sacramento’s potent offence was unleashed in Monday’s 132-120 victory over the Cavaliers.
When Fox sustained a right ankle injury during an overtime victory over the Lakers on October 29, the Kings were leading the NBA in scoring (125.3 ppg).
However, in the five games he missed, they averaged just 102.6 points per game, placing them thirty-fiveth. This season, Fox is averaging 30.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and a 50% field goal and 36.7% 3-point percentage. Domantas Sabonis, a fellow All-Star and member of the NBA Third Team, is scoring 18.0 points, grabbing 12.4 rebounds, and dishing out 7.3 assists.
